Launch week is not the time to discover your logo doesn’t have a transparent PNG. Run through this before you ship anything public.
Files
- Vector file (SVG) for anything that needs to scale — signage, print, merch
- Transparent PNG for web and app use
- A square icon version for favicons and social avatars
- A horizontal lockup and a stacked lockup, for different layouts
Color
- A full-color version
- A single-color (black) version
- A reversed (white) version for dark backgrounds
Legal
- A quick trademark search in your country before you commit publicly
- Confirmation that you hold commercial rights to the final mark
Consistency
- Your logo colors saved as hex codes, not eyeballed each time
- Minimum clear-space rules, even if informal, so it doesn’t get crowded on your website
Getting this list done in one sitting, rather than piecing it together after launch, saves a surprising amount of back-and-forth later.
